I’m thrilled to feature Caitlyn from Nurture Her Therapy – the latest in our Boss in the ’Burbs series, where we spotlight inspiring entrepreneurs making a difference in their communities – and redefining what entrepreneurship looks like outside the city.
Caitlyn is a licensed therapist and mom with over 10 years of experience helping women navigate the emotional ups and downs of motherhood, career, and life. She’s passionate about supporting the mental and emotional well-being of women and mothers, and creating a safe, supportive space where women can find peace, balance, and resilience amid life’s challenges.
Can you share a little about your background?
I’m a licensed therapist and a mom of three. Before starting my private practice, I worked as a child therapist and school social worker, where I saw firsthand how deeply a mother’s well-being impacts her children’s mental health. My personal journey through infertility, loss, and the realities of raising three young kids also gave me a unique perspective. Both personally and professionally, I realized how often mothers are underserved and overlooked despite carrying so much for their families.
What inspired you to start Nurture Her Therapy?
I started Nurture Her Therapy because I wanted to create a safe space just for moms, a place where they could feel seen, supported, and reminded that they matter too. My inspiration came from a mix of my personal experiences in motherhood and my professional background working with children. I realized that supporting mothers directly creates a ripple effect of healthier, happier families.
What products and/or services do you offer?
I offer individual therapy for women, with a specialty in maternal mental health covering everything from infertility and pregnancy loss to postpartum challenges and the ongoing stresses of raising children. I also provide parenting consultations, drawing on my background in child development and school social work to help families navigate behavioral or educational challenges.
Beyond therapy, I host mom-focused events that give women a chance to connect with other moms while leaving informed and empowered. My Mom Mug Club, which meets monthly, creates space for community, conversation, and support in a casual, welcoming environment.
I’ve also created merchandise—hats and totes that say “Happy Moms Matter” as a way to spread the message and remind moms everywhere of their value.
What is the most challenging aspect of running your business?
The most challenging part has been wearing all the hats at once therapist, entrepreneur, marketer, and mom. Balancing the behind-the-scenes business responsibilities while also showing up fully for my clients and my family can feel overwhelming at times. But it’s also taught me to ask for support, set boundaries, and remember why I started this practice in the first place.
What is the most valuable piece of advice you have received as an aspiring entrepreneur?
The best advice I’ve received is to start before you feel ready. It’s so easy to get stuck in perfectionism, especially as a therapist who wants to do everything “right.” But waiting until everything feels perfect often means never starting at all. Taking small, imperfect steps forward has been the most powerful way to grow.
What is the best way for people to connect with you?
The best way to connect is through my website, Nurture Her Therapy, where you can learn more about my services and schedule a consultation. You can also connect with me in person by attending my Mom Mug Club or one of the other events I host for moms, which focus on building community and empowering women through shared experience. I also share resources, reflections, and updates on Instagram (@nurturehertherapy), and you can check out my “Happy Moms Matter” hats and totes there as well.
