Our latest Friday Funday brought us to Creekside Farms in Chatham. While New Jersey has so many amazing farms, most arenāt local and require a 40+ minute drive. Creekside Farms is the perfect outing if you want a touch of the farm experience without committing to a full day trip. Located right on Southern Blvd in Chatham Township, it has a little something for everyone in the family.
Parking is ample and easy. As you pull in, you’re greeted by a variety of seasonal plants and flowersāI almost always leave with something new for my porch! In the fall, they have pumpkins, Halloween decorations, and mums. Come December, youāll find Christmas trees and festive dĆ©cor. Itās a great way to entertain the kids, support a local business, and squeeze in a nursery trip all at once.
The storefront is charming and gives off an old general store vibe. Inside, youāll find local produce, eggs, gifts, candy, and a mouthwatering selection of pies and baked goods. With Easter and Passover coming up, keep them in mind if you’re looking for something that feels homemade. Our personal favorites are the sweet and savory breadsāmy daughters love the chocolate lollipops, and I highly recommend the cheesy breads.
The main attraction for little ones is the chance to feed the animals. Toward the back, there are pens with ducks, chickens, goats, and donkeys. You can buy lettuce at the front for $2 to feed them. My kids especially love the goatsātheyāre friendly and super interactive. Thereās even a cute photo op in the back where kids can pose as goats! A few picnic tables are available for snack breaks, and you can sit and watch tractors go by. There’s also an old truck staged permanently for photos.
They recently started offering birthday party packagesāperfect if you’re looking for a unique celebration idea. Depending on the season, there’s even a beautiful wildflower field to enjoy at the back of the farm.
Overall, Creekside Farm is adorable and really what you make of it. Sometimes we pop in for a quick visit; other times we spend an hour or more between feeding the animals and snack breaks. Plus, itās just a short drive to two great playgroundsāCastle Hill (651 Shunpike Road) and Nash Park (459 Southern Blvd)āmaking it easy to turn your visit into a full afternoon adventure.
